DAVE v8.0 is designed to provide bi-directional file and printer sharing services for Macintosh systems in Microsoft networks. DAVE v8.0 provides these capabilities for both workgroup-based and domain-based networks. For Windows Active Directory networks, we recommend using another Thursby product, ADmitMac that provides Active Directory integration and more powerful security control.

New to DAVE version 8

• Snow Leopard Support - DAVE version 8 supports both 10.6, Snow Leopard, and 10.5, Leopard.

• Expanded Windows OS Support - DAVE v8 supports all current Windows operating systems including Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000 and WIndows NT.

• 64-bit Support - DAVE now includes support for 64-bit multi-processor, multi-threaded operation under Snow Leopard.

Additional Unique Capabilities

• DFS - DAVE, along with Thursby’s other products, are the only Macintosh client-side solutions with built-in support for Microsoft’s Distributed File Systems. This allows users to access shares without requiring knowledge of the actual file location.

• Proper Use of NTFS Resource Forks - Eliminates extraneous files created by Apple’s SMB client. These dot-underscore files clutter the Windows folder and risk being orphaned if the file is deleted, which wastes disk space on the Windows volume.

• NAS Support - Allows access to many-third party network-attached-storage servers (NAS). Offerings from NetApp, EMC, and UNIX platforms running the latest versions of Samba are compatible with DAVE.

• No Additional Windows Software Required - DAVE does not require any additional software to be installed on the Windows systems.

Macintosh Requirements

• Intel or PowerPC Macintosh that supports Mac OS X

• Mac OS 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard with latest updates installed

• Any hardware required to run TCP/IP

At least one of the following systems with NetBIOS and TCP/IP configured, and running the latest release

• Windows 7, all versions
